Spring has Sprung - as well as a leak along with it!

Spring 2020 arrived in all its glory despite the Covid 19 nightmare occurring in parallel.

Prior to refilling the fresh water tank, one must descend the cockpit lazarette and remove the quick connect hot water heater bypass tubing and restore it to its normal hot and cold-water configuration.

True to the nature of aging quick connect fittings, the 90-degree fitting to the hot water tank exhibited a steady drip, drip, drip upon pressurization this spring.

Luck was with me however as I visited the local West Marine and found a couple braided stainless hot water tank connecting hoses that once connected together became just the right length to solve the drip problem at least for the current sailing season.

(I have been wanting to rework the bypass design for the past couple seasons anyway given how difficult it is to squeeze down into the lazarette and make the tubing swaps)

And by the way, it's best not to turn the refrigerator back on
and leave for a week without making sure the few Diet Cokes
you keep on board for Dad won't freeze and explode to
welcome you back the following weekend
