A Companionway Lock System Which Finally Works!

A previous post celebrating the addition of companionway doors was more than a bit premature given a workable lock solution was not yet in place.  The cheap cylinder lock sold with the doors had a pot metal lip which rotated a few times to catch the back edge of the sliding hatch before breaking off.

Given time available during Covid19 isolation, an extensive internet search yielded a well made solid brass drawer lock which nicely secures the back of the door to the back edge of the sliding hatch.

The solid brass cylinder drawer lock and brass
dress ring mounted flush enough to enable
the window panel to slide past it
From the inside, three Runningfish Solid Cast Brass Barrel Bolt, Antique Brass Door Slide Latch Lock, Heavy Duty Gate Sliding Bolt Latch (Antique Bronze) (from Amazon of course) provide enough security to keep the curious riff raff out at night

This stainless steel try was fine until it was time to remove
the sliding window panel to enable the screen feature..
