As noted in earlier, LITHA had been having an annoying habit of overheating everytime she came into (or left) port at near idle speed. Once up on jacks, a cooling system inspection was in order.
How else would anyone prefer to spend their 2018 Christmas to New Years holiday break anyway?

First
up, let's change out the impellor as they are always suspect..
Came out easily enough. Shame it doesn't look
any more worn,
but it's best to
put a new one in I hear...
Boy, the new ones are a real fight to get
in, even with the lube provided! |
Finally! Doesn't that look better $!$ |
Found a perfect spot to benchtest the flow with a garden hose after wrestling this guy out from behind the engine. Even had a sunny day! |
Looks pretty clean to me, but I'll run a wire through each available tube and confirm it comes out clean given taking the end cap off after all these years appears impossible....
Oh well, nothing like performing a labor intensive inspection only to conclude that you really did not find anything terribly suspect.
Let's put it all back together and go for the $thermostats$ next given Bassam mentioned they went bad on his HR a year ago and their changeout brought all his temperatures back to normal.
Uh oh, gotta keep the old & new parts straight! |
There, I think that's how they fit back together |
My, don't they look good! Can't wait til spring to try them out! |
