The Aquadrive transmission needed to be removed to align the engine on its new mounts and Bayshore Marine recommended we send it off for refurbishment given its removal. Aquadrive determined a bad bearing and eventually recommended replacement given it would cost a little less than a rebuild.
The exhaust elbow needed to be removed to remove the transmission and its replacement here in Annapolis sounded much more attractive than trying to do it a few years from now in the islands. Having attended a couple of diesel engine seminars during the past several months, exhaust elbow corrosion seemed to be one of the main culprits to choking out engines at inopportune times and places.
